Workover Annular Blowout Preventer (BOP)

The Workover Annular Blowout Preventer (BOP) is designed for both drilling and workover operations to reliably seal the wellbore and prevent the uncontrolled release of fluids. Built to meet API 16A standards, this compact annular BOP is suitable for high-pressure environments and offers options for standard and sour service applications.

Features & specifications

  • Annular Packer with Hydraulic Actuation: The annular packer is actuated by double-acting hydraulic cylinders, with wellbore pressure acting on the packing unit to enhance the sealing force and maintain a secure seal even in the event of hydraulic pressure loss.
  • Quick-Release Head Option: An optional quick-release head design with a split lock ring enables rapid packing unit replacement without loose parts, simplifying field maintenance and reducing downtime.
  • Durable Body Construction: The BOP body features a standard API flange connection on the bottom, with optional studded versions available. The bonnet is connected with a lock pin, ensuring secure installation.
  • Hydraulic Control Connections: Equipped with two 1” wing unions for quick hydraulic control connections, allowing for easy operation of the annular packer.
  • Wear Plate for Extended Life: A replaceable wear plate prevents metal-to-metal contact between the annular packing inserts and the bonnet, reducing wear and extending the lifespan of the sealing components.

Sizes and Pressure Ratings:

  • Available in 7 1/16” bore size with pressure ratings of:
    • 3000 psi (210 bar)
    • 5000 psi (350 bar)

Applications:

  • Drilling and Workover Operations: Ideal for ensuring well control during drilling and workover procedures, providing a reliable seal around drill pipes, casing, tubing, or open hole.
  • Standard and Sour Service Environments: Manufactured to handle both standard water or oil-based drilling fluids and environments containing H₂S, meeting NACE-MR-01-75 standards for sour service.

Material Options:

  • TRIM STANDARD: Suitable for drilling fluids with a maximum temperature of 212˚F (100˚C).
  • TRIM NACE: Designed for corrosive environments with H₂S content, also rated up to 212˚F (100˚C).
